We moved from the pier to our next stopover: Xingping. This town is located at the bank of Li River, 27 km from Yangshuo. This town is the like the future of Daxu. More restored buildings, more shops, more cafes, and more lively.
We took a buggy to this town and it was included in our Li River Cruise package that cost RMB 150 (~SGD 33) per pax.
Another buggy to ride |
I loved the feel of this town. It holds the ancient feel but feels kind of up to date and modern. There are a lot of western cafes along the alley. So hipster!

We also passed by a shop selling traditional rice crackers, peanut candies, and black sesame candies. We went in and looked at the production of the rice crackers. We also bought quite a lot of the black sesame candies.

The quiet side of the town: empty houses???? |
According to Jack, Xingping sells almost similar things to West Street in cheaper prices. You can get the same price in West Street by bargaining hard.
After strolling along this lively ancient town, we moved on to check in into our hotel: C. Source West Street Hotel. This hotel is located right in the middle of the famous West Street of Yangshuo.
West Street a.k.a Xi Jie is the oldest street in Yangshuo that has the east-meets-west feel. West Street is the biggest foreign language center in China. The street is more than 500 m long and approximately 8m wide and completely paved with marbles. This street brings out the feel of China but also accepts the western influence.
We found almost everything here, from street sellers to fancy restaurants and discotheques.
Our hotel is located at the heart of this place. It's great as we could find all sorts of entertainments when stepping out of the hotel. However, West Street is an pedestrian street so we struggled a lot to bring our luggage into the hotel.

I like the steps but there is no elevators here! |
My favorite spot at the hotel |
Unfortunately, one of our group members fell sick. He had high fever and became nauseous. So our kind tour guide brought him to the nearby clinic to get some emergency treatment. We walked there to visit him before having our dinner and some shopping at West Street.

After having a quick dinner, we spent our night at West Street to stroll and shop. Mom bought quite a lot of shawls, Bro bought some pancakes, and I just felt happy being there.

Busy West Street |
When we went back to the hotel at around 11:00 pm, the street was still very busy. A lot of people still bought snacks or went to the clubs to dance.
Love is in the air,
