Palembang Trip - Another Wedding Project for Bouquet & Boutonniere

Bouquet & Boutonniere was so delighted when the bride-to-be decided to have the wedding planning service.

The wedding shall be about the two lovebirds. So I decided to ask more about them and to propose something uniquely for them.

The bride is so in love with penguins and the groom is so in love with the bride. So, I believed the groom's main objective would be to give happiness to his wife. Winter-themed wedding seemed a great choice.

B&B was engaged since March 2015, first proposal was out in the same month and the concept was approved from the first cut. While waiting for the confirmation of the ballroom, B&B assisted the bride in recommending places for pre-wedding photo shoot in April 2015.

The ballroom was confirmed sometime in May 2015. Before the confirmation, I took a tour there to see what kind of decoration would be required for the wedding.

After the ballroom was confirmed, we started working on each of the elements of the wedding, i.e. stationery, decoration, vendor engagement, event rundown.

We started from the idea of having a paper wedding invitation with fold-over card and inserts to cater for both Indonesian and Chinese Insert. However, due to circumstances, the plan changed. In the end we decided to have a not-so-normal invitation card in the shape of a spunbond shopping bag. The front is the 'cover' and the back is the invitation details in Indonesian. There is double-sided insert card in the bag for Chinese version and location map of the ballroom. The addressee card was tied to the handle of the bag.

Nearing to the date of the wedding, more and more things came up. The bride was stressed up at some times but together we went through all. She is a lucky bride. The ballroom threw stage decoration, 8 standing flowers, and 1 wedding gate in the package. We only needed to do some 'enhancement'. Apart from that, the ballroom is so pretty that it is almost enough without anything.

B&B also gave the concept of the wedding cake. To suit the theme, a wedding cake with snowflakes and penguin cake topper is proposed. As the room is so big, I told the bride that at least 7-tier cake would be needed.

And this is the result!

B&B also assisted the bride in searching her dream bouquet. Cascading bouquet with roses and orchids were the idea. Since orchids were not in season, the florists changed it to carnation.

We did not forget the personal flowers/accessories. I created the bride's wrist corsages and some corsages/boutonniere for the family.

These were the decoration for the reception area. All the props were specifically created/chosen to cater for the theme. 

A photo wall was installed to serve as both photo booth and photo gallery. As the expected numbers of guests would be enormous, the photo wall would be beneficial to let the guests enjoy the pre-wedding photos of the couples without the need of queueing over the photo album.

Not much enhancement needed for the ballroom as the standard decoration was already sufficient. What I did was only to fill in the aisle and add on the colour. And of course, adding a little bit of decoration to the VIP area.

The event ran smoothly according to what we wanted although some changes were required here and there. Good coordination with other vendors is needed to ensure no hiccups in the event rundown. And thank God, we managed it. The main procession started on time and it ran smoothly till the end. We did not even have proper full-dress rehearsal due to time constraint. I was relying on proper briefing to the families, master of ceremony, dancers, and ballroom staff.

I am so happy to serve the couple and I am more than happy to bring smiles to their faces at the end of the day. I am turning their dream wedding into reality and the hard work for these 6 months have been paid off. All thanks to the assistance given by the vendors and of course, my crew for the day.

Hong Kong Trip - Till I See You Again

After dinner nearby the hotel, we went to the Ladies' Market. Ladies' Market, unlike the counterpart, is very hype and crowded. A lot of shops with a lot of lighted signboards, a lot of sales people with microphones, a lot of crowds, a lot of people jamming and dancing.

The streets are bigger than Temple Street and the goods sold are more to fashion. However, you need to bargain hard here. All the sellers will quote you a ridiculous price. What you need to do is just to wave your hand and pretend to walk away, the sellers will reduce the price instantly. If you are interested, start bargaining from 50% before increasing it.

The next morning we spent by having dim sum nearby the hotel because we had no time to go anywhere anymore. After that we went straight to the airport for our flight back to Kuala Lumpur. From Kuala Lumpur, we all dispersed to our own residency.

Hong Kong Trip - The Peak and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

From Citygate Outlet Mall, we took the MTR back to Hong Kong. Initially we intended to to take the tram to the Peak but we were told that we needed to walk to Central MTR Station to the lower terminus.

The officer then told us to catch a bus instead. The bus station is just on top of MTR Station. We just walked up and taa daa we were at the bus station.

We took the bus and the bus journey took us about 20 minutes before we reached the bus station below The Peak Galleria. We crossed to the building called Peak Tower and went to level P101 for our visit to Madame Tussauds wax museum.

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Hong Kong is the first branch in Asia. It was opened since 2000 and displayed about 100 wax figures of celebrities and famous people. After the renovation and expansion in 2006, the museum is divided into 8 zones, namely Hong Kong Glamours, Royal Families, Historical and National Heroes, TV Studio, World Premiere, The Champions, Authentic History, Music Icons, and  Fantasy Kingdom.

I have been to three Madamme Tussauds museums and to be honest, all of them are the same. I felt wow-ed for my first visit in Bangkok and just nothing for my second and third visit in Sydney and Hong Kong. I do not like it in Hong Kong because the place is small and the crowds are terrible. We could not even get the right angles for the photos because of the narrow alleys and many many people waiting for their turn too.

So, I'd rather spend my HKD 210 (~SGD 28) entrance ticket for good food or shopping!

After finishing our tour inside, we walked out to the veranda of The Peak Tower to see the view of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak. I think there is no need to up to The Peak Terrace and pay the money when you are able to get the view just by sitting at the veranda or sipping your cup of coffee at Pacific Coffee.

Hong Kong Trip - Visiting Big Buddha at Lantau Island

We planned to visit the Big Buddha on Sunday morning. The temple where the Big Buddha is located is called Tian Tan and located at Lantau Island by the side of Po Lin Monastery. There is a 34-meter high bronze statue of Sakyamuni Buddha overlooking the monastery from the top of Muk Yue Shan. To reach the peak, all the tourists shall climb 268 steps of staircase.

The Big Buddha is sitting on three-storey pedestal. The pedestal is actually an exhibition house of various Buddhist's item.

Around the Big Buddha, there are six status of 'Offerings from Six Devas' which show the devas (gods) offering flower, incense, lamp, ointment, fruit, and music to the Buddha. The six offerings symbolise six perfections of generosity, morality, zeal, meditation, and wisdom. Only when one obtain all the traits, he is able to reach the enlightenment.

Lantau Island is located at the west of Hong Kong. To reach there, we took MTR from Yau Ma Tei to Tung Chung and then transferred to the cable car. There are two of the cable car that the tourists can take for going into Lantau Island, namely standard cabin and crystal cabin. Crystal cabin offers a glass bottom so that you can thrill yourselves along the 30-minutes journey.

We took standard cabin which cost us HKD 155 (~SGD 27) and we had purchased the ticket online. Therefore, we did not need to queue at the counter to collect the tickets. We arrived quite early so we did not see any queue, but when we went out at mid-day, the queue was already snake long.

When we arrived at the terminus, we were greeted by a souvenir shop of Ngongping360. A family of monkey is the mascot of this place.

In front of the terminus, we could already see the Big Buddha from afar. However, from the cable car terminus to the Big Buddha, we still needed to walk a distance passing through Ngongping Village.

We were then moved to a huge porch leading to Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tan. We started to climb the stairs. After climbing ups and downs in Zhangjiajie and Guilin, this was nothing.

We did not spend much time in Ngongping360. About mid-day we rushed back to the Tung Chung to visit Citygate Outlet Mall before going on with our next itinerary.
